For the time being, his father, Amaziah, did what was right before the LORD but his heart lacked faithfulness, and so his heart was lifted up by the victory he gained over Edom. Instead of destroying the idols, he even brought the idols of the Edomite’s and worshiped them. It happened because his heart was not fixed before the LORD. This made the LORD angry, so He sent a Prophet to rebuke king Amaziah, but because of his pride and arrogance, he did not listen.
The LORD hates arrogant people! That’s why the LORD brought destruction to the father of Uziah, who’s named was Amaziah…
