And verse 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness.
And 1 John 2, verses 4 to 6 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
And 1 John 4, verses 19 and 20 We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his “or her” brother “or sister”, he “or she” is a liar; for he “or she” who does not love his “or her” brother “or sister” whom he “or she” has seen cannot love God whom he “or she” has not seen.
